I’m an amateur photographer who has lived in Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, and England.  I never know how to answer the what-kind-of-pictures-do-you-take? question.  I simply photograph what I see, wherever I am.  When I’m not traveling around with my camera, I live and work with my wonderful wife of 27 years  in the city of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Five random insights and facts:

  1. I used to work for the business manager of the Dave Matthews Band.  The five years I spent there were like dog years because they took twenty off my life.
  2. My wife and I were married on a Penn State – Notre Dame game day.  I spent a good portion of the reception in the country club kitchen checking the score.  Penn State won.  We’re still married.
  3. I once had a conversation with an inmate in a maximum security prison in Wisconsin.  He told me that he and Hitler shared the same birthday.  I struggled to think of an appropriate response.
  4. While on a three-year overseas assignment my company car was an Alfa Romeo.  It could foolishly go 115 m.p.h.
  5. My wife once drove in the wrong direction around a London roundabout.  Okay, that wasn’t a fact about me — but it’s a really good story.

  1. Bruce, not only are the pictures fantastic, but the related captions are quite entertaining! You have a tremendous artistic gift and it is really great to see you use and share it.

Seeing you next to the edge still makes me nervous!

  2. Wow … these are exceptional! Your eye for the right composition as well as your witty comments make for a very entertaining website.

    Three questions:

    1. Are you saving the photos of your favorite college campus and football team for your own private collection?

    2. How frequently do you plan on refreshing this site?

    3. Do you still sell note cards with samples of your photos on them? If so, how can I purchase them?

Thanks for any insights you can provide!

  3. Rob and Kathy,

    Thanks for the comments!

Rob: Maybe we need to do a desert hike next time. No canyon walls to worry about . . .

Kathy: I’m admittedly short of Penn State photos. Maybe a reason for another get together? As for photo cards, I think I can set it up for those to be ordered through SmugMug when I get the photos loaded in. I’ll let you know . . .

    All the best,

  4. “The five years I spent there were like dog years because they took twenty off my life.” I felt the same way about my time there. It took time and photography to turn back the clock for me. I love watching the progression of your work!

    • Only a fellow MT’er would understand like you do, Patrick! And I totally agree about photography making things better. Thanks for visiting and for the encouragement.
